![]() The idea of my lord both managing a city, scout/harassing an enemy province or leading an enemy army makes complete sense a cures the character/role bloat between generals, governors and agents. ![]() There are other games which have really improved over time with DLCs, such as Cities:Skylines, Anno 1800, or Stellaris. On the other hand, I would have preferred if the governors had a distinct playstyle to differentiate them from the warlords even if it cost little extra.Īnd it's not just TWWH. And you're right CA delivered in this regard. I do agree in a sense that devs shouldn't release an incomplete game just for the sake of releasing DLCs. now we're saying CA messed up because they included a full cast at launch rather than milking other characters for more DLC?Īgain a good point with which I both agree and disagree. This gets down to me being confused about how much Warhammer's long DLC cycle has warped people's perceptions. Also from what I heard, Chinese pretend this era never happened, so if that's the case, it doesn't help either. it doesn't really fit with the flagship "romance" mode. Nothing "necessary" to have the "whole experience." No clue what they were thinking with 8 Princes though. That's why I just think it, like many historical settings, was best suited by just a couple of supplemental DLCs. Anything else would have been a massive undertaking that would have dragged the game away from its core. One of the quickest ways to kill a TW game for me is to take my "favorite character" and give them a trash starting position (Albert from ToB and Charlemagne come to mind) so like, providing start positions where Liu Bei or Cao Cao could face different challenges was pretty solid IMO. Giving them different start positions and whatnot was probably the best way they could go for a lot of fans and I dug it. Sure, everyone wanted the Nanman and Korea but ultimately the setting is very much about a fairly narrow cast of characters. Honestly I just don't feel like the game was especially well suited to a long DLC tail. In a situation where most reviews were extremely favorable, only criticising the lack of playstyle diversity, I can't fathom how someone came up with the idea that 10 DLCs with the same cast and roster recurring after 2 years of bordergore are precisely what the game needs. ![]() The problem is that the most DLCs can be summed up as Cao Cao: Reloaded, Repurposed and Refurbished.
